Working from home has become the new normal for many of us, but it can be difficult to stay productive when you're not in a traditional office setting. Whether you're working from a computer desk or a dining room table, there are a few things you can do to make sure you're getting the most out of your workday.

Here are 5 Tips to be more productive when working from Home:

  1. Create a dedicated workspace.
It's important to have a specific area of your home that is designated for work. This will help you stay focused and reduce distractions. Make sure your computer desk is clutter-free and that you have everything you need within easy reach.
  2. Set up your desk properly.
The way you set up your desk can have a big impact on your productivity. Make sure your computer monitor is at eye level and that your keyboard and mouse are at a comfortable distance. For Tips on the ideal set-up for your posture you can see our post here.
  3. Take breaks.
Sitting in front of a computer for long periods of time can be tiring, so make sure you take regular breaks. Stand up, stretch, and take a walk around your home. Increasing circulation to your limbs and organs. This will help you stay refreshed and focused.
  4. Prioritise your tasks.
Make a list of the tasks you need to accomplish each day, and prioritise them. Tackle the most important tasks first, and work your way down the list. This will help you stay on track and keep you from getting overwhelmed. If you have an additional monitor or notice board it can be good practice to keep the task list visible at all times, that way if you get distracted a quick glance can help put you back on track.
  5. Use technology to your advantage.
There are many tools and apps available to help you stay productive when working from home. Try using a time-tracking app to help you stay on task, or a productivity app to help you manage your time more effectively

Bonus Tip Declutter your desk space:

Everyone is unique in how they like their desk to be laid out, however decluttering your desktop space and only keeping items and documents relevant to your current tasks close to hand can help keep your mind decluttered too..

Working from home can be challenging, but by following these tips and setting up your computer desk and work area properly, you can make the most of your time and be more productive. Keep in mind that everyone is different, find what works for you and stick to it.

Happy working!
